This tranquil one level home is tucked away into the salal bushes, surrounded by birds and berries. Two bedroom retreat close to the beaches and points of interest. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful home away from home.
Salal Forest is roughly 1000 square feet of private space on one level with two bedrooms and one full bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower. Fully furnished kitchen with ample space to dine and lounge. The living room has a comfortable sectional couch with a smart TV where you can log into Netflix or Prime with your own log in. You will have access to the laundry room where you can find all the necessary towels and cleaning supplies. The deck is largeand has a bbq.
The 2 bedroom home is all yours to enjoy. There are long term local tenants that live on site as per Tofino Bylaw but they respect your privacy and hope you respect theirs in return.
Neighborhood
Salal Forest is located on the cusp of town, secluded enough to maintain a quiet atmosphere and close enough to walk, bike or shuttle into the heart of Tofino. Our neighbour is the beloved Naa'Waya'Sum Gardens (formerly the Botanical Gardens) where you can enjoy a morning coffee among beautiful flowers and mudflats filled with migrating birds and whimsical art. Your closest beach is Mackenzie Beach, just a quick jaunt down the road, where Lil Ronnies often has live music to serenade your sunset walks on the most beautiful beaches in Tofino. Beaches Grocery, Chocolate Tofino and Tacofino are all super close in the Outside Break Complex to satisfy any cravings you might have.
Transit
To get to Tofino from the mainland, you need to take a ferry to Nanaimo (closest) or Victoria. From there, it's a scenic drive. Anywhere from 3 (Nanaimo) to 5 hours (Victoria). You can also fly into the airport with Pacific Coastal Airlines (the flight is stunning and so quick!) or seasonally, take a float plane from the Vancouver harbour downtown to Tofino harbour downtown.
There is a designated pedestrian path we call the MUP (multi use path) which is safe and has two lanes for walkers, bikers, joggers, strollers - you name it!. We encourage you to use it; it's one of the things that makes Tofino unique. The free Shuttle bus runs during the summer months from town to the info centre. There is a city transit service that runs from Tofino to Ucluelet with limited service. There are a couple bike rentals (pedal bike and e-bike). There is also a local rideshare app called Coastal Rides, our version of Uber (download their app). Tofino Taxi is another option (though only one driver/car). For larger groups, there is Tiki Bus + Pacific Rim Navigators that needs to be pre arranged. There is a Budget Rental car service at the Tofino Airport (also needs to be pre-arranged).
Pup Patrol
The house is pet friendly (1 dog max). We provide dog towels, small bed and dog bowls. The property is dog heaven with direct beach access. Please ensure your pup does not chase the wildlife such as shorebirds. Further instructions will be in the house guide. $50 per dog.
Salal Forest is set up for independent check in and stays, embracing the privacy of a vacation rental. There is a Welcome Guide sent to you beforehand and one you can scan at the house; please refer to it to troubleshoot before reaching out. I am reachable by text or call if you have any questions. You will need to contact me to empty garbage and compost if you are full.

- Booking is subject to a cleaning fee plus GST, PST and MRDT (Municipal) tax.
- Dog friendly (no cats) Please advise at time of booking. Dog towels will be provided. $50 per dog (1 dog max.)
- During the peak summer season (June 15 – Sept 15), houses have a 3 night minimum (or more) stay must be back-to-back to avoid gaps. If you book and create a one night gap, we will contact you to shuffle the reservation ahead.
- Mid-season rates apply on Winter long weekends and during Christmas.
- 3-night minimum stay for all Canadian Statutory Holidays
- 5-10% discount for 7 nights or more not during peak season, please reach out.
- Cancellation Policy: We offer a 30 day cancellation policy. If you provide us with the 30 days required notice you will receive a full refund (minus a $50 plus tax non-refundable processing fee). If you cancel without the required days’ notice you will not receive a refund for your reservation.
- Quiet time is between 10pm - 8am.
*Please note: A long-term tenant lives on-site in a separate caretaker suite as per Tofino Bylaw. The caretaker gives you privacy and wishes the same in return.
- Septic System: Please note the house is on septic; only toilet paper to be flushed down the toilet. Other items will clog the system and will lead to costly repair which may be shared with you if found the item was from your group. No tampons, dental floss, baby wipes as an example - only toilet paper.
