This is a fantastic property for extended families, just 3 minutes’ drive to Summer Beach in St Mawes, and within walking distance to the village, it is the perfect base to relax, spend time together and explore the Roseland. With uninterrupted sea views and 5 minutes’ walk from the town, with its harbour, choice of restaurants and cafés, and local shops, it is an ideal location for holiday makers wanting a scenic retreat. Due to the hill it will take longer to walk back. Why not take one of the many boat trips from the harbour to see the wildlife and admire the scenery?
If you want to venture further afield there is a beautiful walk through the village, along the coastal path. Follow the St Mawes to St Just trail where you will find a pretty 13th-century church. Another must is to wander up to St Mawes Castle, a preserved artillery fortress, and admire the outstanding views. For gardeners, Trelissick House and Gardens is just 6 miles away. Circular walks take you around the estuary, visit the historic house and wander around the gardens. If you prefer to catch the ferry from St Mawes across to Carrick Roads, it is an easy walk to the house and gardens, and well sign posted.
The Lost of Gardens of Heligan will appeal to all ages, 17 miles away, there is so much to see and do, wander around the Pleasure Gardens and visit the outdoor jungle garden, then stop for refreshments. For a more sedate outing, Melinsey Mill is 7 miles away, where you will find wood and willow sculptures in the gardens of the 16th century watermill. It is situated in Veryan, famous for its round houses, and is well worth a visit. There is a large play area for children and a very nice pub serving refreshments, as well as an art gallery. If you catch the King Harry Ferry you can avoid the 27-mile route to Truro and Tresillian, and offers a scenic trip. From here you can drive to Turo, the capital of Cornwall. You will find modern connected to historic architecture, quirky and unique mews with small individual shops and cafés, cobbled streets, friendly pubs, and a host of different restaurants from funky to classy.
After a busy day, come back and relax on the decked garden, the mirrors on the wall reflect the view of the sea and the stunning church, or curl up next to the wood burner with a drink and plan the next days trip.
