Positive: Very friendly staff. Large room with a balcony, a fridge in the room, great location close to everything. Great WI-FI, nice restaurant but very expensive for the tiny portions offered. The hotel is quiet (apart from when there are noisy Mexican drunk guests). Comfortable large bed. A nice spa onsite but very expensive treatments. There is yoga in the building, a/c in the room. Over all a very god stay but the owners are new to the hotel industry and I feel they still have a lot to learn but they will eventually get there.
Negative: Union my arrival at 7:00 PM the hotel was closed despite I had informed the staff of my late arrival. A guy from the business next door was thankfully able to help me get a hold of the hotel manager. I had booked and requested a room on the first floor which is also what I paid for but yet upon my arrival a ground floor room (a cheaper room) had been allocated to me. I reminded them of the room I had paid for so I was instead allowed to stay upstairs which is also what I had paid for. One of the mattresses in my room where my partner slept had huge staines which I did mention to the staff. The room has no closet to hang the clothes, there were several power cuts daily. Low water pressure in the shower and I was without hot water for over a week. Lots of construction work going on nearby the property. Lots of mosquitos in the courtyard. The biggest issue for me was the cleaner. Upon arrival I was told daily cleaning was available. That is not the case since the cleaner only comes a couple of times a week and on different days every week. I had to work around the cleaner and one time I wanted my room cleaned but was told the cleaner was off that day. Later I saw she was cleaning another guest’s room and when I questioned it, I was told there had been a water leak in that room and that is what the cleaner had to come in urgently. I later learned there had been no water leak but I guess some guests are treated better than others?! The cleaner every time did a terrible rushed job. Once I had to complain because the floors in my room had clearly not been swept properly or mopped at all. When the cleaner was confronted she lied and said she had already mopped the floors. She came back the following day and mopped the floors properly. A shame it could not just have been done properly the first time. Great staff but the service is lacking in many areas I felt.
