This rarely available home 2.5 blocks from spectacular Windansea beach in La Jolla will charm you with its design. This is the personal home of an experienced hostess and guests who are welcome are ones who understand that this is not a commercial rental but a home where you walk in an feel embraced by the garden, indoor plants and unique craftsman style. The location of is near a sublime bit of coastline that starts at the cove and ends in Pacific Beach. It’s 1200 sq ft of welcoming space. Please read through the entire listing, there are many perks but a few quirks :)

8 min walk to a divine bit of coastline. White sandy beaches and epic sunsets are what this area is known for.
California craftsman cottage design. High beam ceilings and warm wood finishes. Stylish touches and non commercial design elements.
Plant filled courtyard with a small pond and small waterfall boasts a big outdoor grill and seating area. The lush garden has producing grapes, lemons, tangerines, guavas and apricots and passion fruit in the summer months. Gardener included so enjoy a care free stay.
High end fully stocked kitchen with a Wolf 6 burner stove, griddle and double oven.
Various work areas. Desk in kitchen, living room and one of the bedrooms. Fast WiFi.
Tastefully furnished bedrooms with closets and dressers for storage
The location, tucked into an intimate beach community and a 3 block (10 min) stroll to the hiddden gem of Windansea beach is usually the part that gets the most accolades.

La Jolla is an upscale beach community that has retained its casual vibe. You can choose between a day at the beach, a day surfing at the many local breaks, a visit to the farmers market on sundays or deluxe night out in the village a mile away where you can shop at the mazarati dealership and countless exclusive stores, jewelers and art galleries. Nature abounds here, with fantastic local hiking, kelp diving, open water swimming, kayaking etc…
UCSD campus is about 5 miles to the east. Many people visiting their family members have used this area as home base.
La Jolla is an international tourist destination, this part of La Jolla- Windansea is a very walkable family friendly neighborhood with serveral restaurants and a great coffee shop within 3 blocks. It also has the most picturesque beaches in Southern California and is known for its epic sunsets.
The street is filled with local families. Every evening folks are outside.
A mile south is the community of birdrock with an award winning bakery, numerous restaurants and shops as well as epic coastal parks and views.
The cove with small beaches and the well known sea lion population is 2 miles away.
Please note, this is a personal home not a commercial rental. We appreciate guests who respect the neighborhood and house rules and enjoy authenticity over perfection (for example there are some original floors in the bedrooms from 1951 and the beautiful Norfolk Pine in front sheds ). All personal items are packed away.
There is intermittent construction occurring next door. It has thus far not been problematic but construction is unpredictable.
You do not share living or outdoor spaces with the existing tenants in two attached rentals (they are long term vetted guests) but you do share a laundry room with one tenant. I screen guests in my units thoroughly and they are aware that this is a family friendly and quiet place.
I hope to have kind guests to book my home and take care of it. Since this is a very family oriented neighborhood, you will see neighbors daily, socializing out on the street. Everyone looks out for each other on the street so it is extremely safe.
Parties and rude behavior will not be tolerated :)
