WE HAVE MANY VERY POSITIVE REVIEWS,, PLEASE SEARCH FOR THE PROPERTY ON AIRBNB WHERE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO READ THEM.
The property is accessed via several steps up to the towpath. It is very light and spaceous with a very high ceiling in the living area. It has an excellent central heating system and a wood burner for use in the colder months making it comfortable all year round. It still has the original beautiful wood beams in the high ceiling, and wood from the former bar has been used to make sills in the living area. Note: there are steep stone steps from the parking space to the property so unfortunately, this is not suitable for those with mobility restrictions.
THE SPACE
The living room has two sofas and a 50 inch SMART TV and an assortment of puzzles and games for all ages. It also has spectacular views from all the windows. The windows facing the canal towpath are fitted with shutters which guests can open or close depending on their preferences. The dining area has an extendable table which will easily seat up to 6 people. There is a wood burner in the corner of this area.
The living room links seamlessly with the kitchen, making a very sociable open plan space. The kitchen has a useful breakfast bar which seats 2 people, a fridge, freezer, small dishwasher, a fitted microwave, an electric oven and an induction hob with extractor fan. It is well equipped with crockery, glasses, cutlery and all you will need for self-catering including baking and cooking a roast dinner!
As you leave the kitchen you enter a corridor with access to the bathroom with a large shower-bath, a basin with a vanity unit, a WC and a bathroom mirror which has a blue-tooth speaker. Along the corridor from the bathroom is a small utility space which contains the washer/dryer and cleaning equipment plus items such as the high chair.
The stairs next to the bathroom door go up to the bedroom and the mezzanine area. The bedroom has a very comfortable king-sized bed and a large fitted wardrobe which also contains a drawer unit. it has a second, smaller SMART TV in it. The mezzanine has wonderful views down to the living area and can be used as additional sleeping space. It has a single day bed which we can make up into a very comfortable bed . In this area there is a book case with a variety of books and a small set of drawers. The velux windows in the ceiling of the mezzanine have black out blinds, but this is not an enclosed space like the bedroom is, so during daylight hours, it is not possible to make it completely dark.
There is a travel cot with linen, which will be put in the bedroom if requested for an infant.
We welcome up to 2 dogs and have a medium sized dog bed, dog blankets and towels and dog bowls for use by our canine guests. Great dog walks start from the cottage's front door, but please note there is no enclosed garden.
Parking is free and is in front of the host's house, which is behind the cottage, as close as you can get to it by road. Your car will be parked about 25 metres from the cottage's front door.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Bookings start either on a Friday or Monday. .
Check out can be any day except Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday. The exception to this is the Xmas/ New Year period where bookings will be aligned to the bank holidays to meet needs.
We are unable to provide electric charging for vehicles at the cottage just yet. If you have an electric car, I'm happy to explain where the closest charging points are.
If you book for three people the mezzanine day bed will be made up for you. If you are booking for two people but still require the day bed, please let me know in your booking message as there is no linen left out for you to make this additional bed up yourself. There is a flat rate charge for this.
We can accommodate one infant under 2 per booking in a travel cot. If the travel cot is required it will be put up in the bedroom, not on the mezzanine, for safety reasons.
Up to 2 dogs are welcome
If you wish to bring your bike(s) or a canoe, you can store them in our garage which is lockable. Just let me know when you book and I will make sure a garage key is left for you.
We routinely provide a welcome basket of coffee, individually wrapped Yorkshire tea bags, ground coffee bags and wrapped biscuits. It also contains a small loaf of bread, some small jars of jam and marmalade and individually packaged cereals. We also provide some fresh semi-skimmed milk and individual butter portions. This is in addition to the 'cooking basics'. This would be sufficient for possibly two breakfasts.
Bath robes are provided in addition to towels
