Summary: The house is nice, quality items, lovely decor. The daughter is their "caretaker", she lives a few feet from the house. It is not private. The "2nd patio", outdoor dining table, fire pit, are all essentially in her front yard, literally all her windows face that space except the back one that is frosted but has a view of the hot tub and pool area. "Privacy" is clearly stated and it wasn't. I was not informed of this arrangement until a week before check-in when I received a 12 pages of other "instructions." I would have canceled then based on the approach, but there is a reason you can NEVER get a refund if you cancel. It is my opinion this very adult child would prefer not to have renters and the communication with the owners isn't always reliable in regards to the guests and their behavior and use of supplies. When I complained via text about the whirlpool not working, the condition of the pool area, the pool gate being propped open by her daughter, etc., I was insulted and blamed, it was absurd. Then you find out there is a sheet of instructions for check-out that you have to sign, they are only found in the book at the house, and if they aren't there, "let her know". The "caretaker" lives 10' from the house and there is a printer in the bedroom, why wouldn't they be there? I have been a VRBO landlord and am an excellent, frequent guest, this owner should not be renting!! their "caretaker" is at best lazy, at worst working out her parent issues on my dime.
