Positive: Great location at the beach. Many big dogs but they are super friendly and mainly sleeping all day. It’s also very quiet at night.
Negative: We were not happy with the food situation in this accommodation. There is a fully equipped modern kitchen, which is only used by staff to prepare very expensive meals for guests. We booked the dinner at the accommodation for the first night and were shocked that we were charged 25 USD per person for three small slices of bread with tomatoes, a quinoa salad and a coconut cake. This is by far the most expensive dinner we have ever had in whole Nicaragua, it did not even include a drink. We have had way better meals on the island for 5-8 USD, also in other remote restaurants which serve high quality and locally sourced food. The issue is that guests are allowed to only use the super old kitchen with a fire place which is extremely difficult to use - you need to collect and cut wood first and it then takes forever to make a fire. The kitchen stuff is also very old and not well equipped. This very much gives the impression that guests should book the pricey breakfast, lunch and dinner meals of the accomodation. It is also difficult to go to other restaurants since you need to cross the jungle which is quite scary in the dark and there are no signs to the accommodation but always several path options which make you get lost easily. One girl got robbed from a man with a machete on the island during our stay which made walking in the jungle at night feel even less safe. We also did not feel like anyone is putting any efforts into the accomodation - there are lots of rotted palm trees, seaweed and other stuff lying around, while other accomodations put a lot of effort into removing these things. Guests need to share one outdoor shower and two toilets, of which only one is working. In the shower as well as on the toilet people will be able to see you since the shower wall is built too low and the toilet has a curtain only which moves in the wind. Unfortunately the staff was also not very friendly - no one apart from the owners ever said hello or had a smile on the face.
