Welcome to my home in La Paz (the El Centenario area -- about 15 minutes from downtown La Paz). My Mexican Colonial-style home is in a quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood and features 2 bedrooms, each room with full ensuite baths (with large shower) and easy access through double sliding doors to a full back patio, the heated pool and the views. King bed in the Master; Queen bed in the guest room. The ranch style floor plan is perfectly suited for privacy with a bedroom on each end of the house, separated by the laundry room, dining area, living room, and kitchen. The entrance features a flat sidewalk and circular driveway for ease of access and for loading / unloading and shaded parking.
The kitchen includes modern appliances and a large peninsula for food preparation and serving, a natural gathering place for socializing. All counter tops in the kitchen are granite and in the bathrooms are beautiful local marble. The kitchen is stocked with a convection oven in addition to gas stove, pots, pans, dishes, glasses and utensils to meet almost any cooking and dining need.
The living area is cozy with comfortable furniture and beautiful views of the Bay of La Paz and the Sea of Cortez during the day, and the twinkling lights of La Paz at night.
Outdoors is the focus of living and visiting La Paz, with perfect weather and low humidity for the majority of the year. The outside area features a beautiful 5 ft. deep pool, a large covered patio with outdoor ceiling fan, and comfortable patio table and chairs, and a small “beach” area for those sun tanning times.
The upstairs roof patio is perfect for those early risers for sunrise over the Sea of Cortez with that first cup of coffee (or Bloody Mary), or gorgeous desert sunsets with a glass of wine or margaritas! The views are amazing with wide open spaces if you're looking for peace and quiet and a sky full of stars. With an arroyo on two sides of the property, the views are expansive with various cacti and other native plants.
La Paz has several beaches you may want to explore -- Playa Balandra, Playa El Tecolote and Playa Tesoro are all within easy driving distance for a full day at the beach, with more rustic but beautiful beaches even closer in our area.
For those inside-the-house times, there is a large flat screen Smart TV in the living area and Master bedroom (with HDMI ports), full fiber optic WiFi internet connection, and a nice collection of books, board games, train dominoes and cards.
The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer for your use.
Since the location is in El Centenario outside of downtown La Paz, you will need a vehicle to get around. La Paz offers your choice of water activities -- from whale watching, whale shark snorkeling in the Bay (a favorite with these big impressive beauties -- the largest fish on earth), and scuba diving, to boat excursions to Isla Espíritu Santo. La Paz is known as a major deep sea fishing and game fishing location, and excursions are available from the surrounding marinas. While there is fantastic whale watching close to La Paz, you may also want do an overnight trip 6 hours northeast to the quaint town of beautiful Loreto to experience whale watching with a good chance of spotting the massive blue whales -- the largest mammals on earth. For those land lovers, off-roading experiences are available from several local vendors for excursions into the desert. I have a great recommendation for tour guide for these activities, if you're interested.
Arrivals - Most people fly into Cabo San Lucas (SJD) International Airport and drive or take a pre-booked shuttle the 2.5 hours northeast to La Paz on great roads with scenic views of the Pacific along the way as you crisscross the Baja. A brief half-way stop in Todos Santos for lunch at Hotel California or any of their many great restaurants and some shopping is a must!
La Paz is more than a resort city -- it's a fully functioning city (the capital of the State of Baja California Sur) with easy shopping for food at several stores including a Mega WalMart, Sam's Club, and Costco (in Cabo). There is a nice variety of restaurants with excellent offerings. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere at major locations. While it's a working city, La Paz still has the feel of a quaint village with a beautiful downtown Malecón (boardwalk) for several miles along the Bay -- perfect for walking, running, bicycling or just relaxing with yet another delicious margarita!
A highly recommended activity is Cooking with Silvia Bernardini. Her Facebook site is https://www.facebook.com/chefsilviabernardini/. I did this myself as have some renters -- always a great fun night and amazingly delicious Italian food!
Please note this is a non-smoking home, and while I love pets and enjoy children, this is a no-pets/no children under 15 rental.
There is a discount for monthly rentals (enter dates for 28 days or more for rate quote). Monthly rentals are for no more than 2 months consecutively. Also, please note that as of 2020, Mexican law requires VRBO to collect a 16% Country tax and 3% Baja California Sur State tax that is then submitted to the Mexican government. This amount is reflected in your quote as a "Lodging" tax. Sorry!
