Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: If you are interested in exploring the San Juan River and Indio Maiz reserve, this is the ecolodge for you! The rooms were comfortable and well guarded from mosquitos. The food was local and delicious and the staff was very pleasant. The best part were the tours with Orlando who is an excellent guide - a night hike in the rainforest is a must! You never know what you’ll see but we saw so many rare birds, poison dart frogs, caiman and more.
Negative: The journey to the lodge was long but with the help of the Guacimo staff, we found it pretty easy with only limited Spanish language knowledge. This ecolodge is remote, so please set your expectations accordingly. Go for the nature, not the amenities.
