Positive: Het Lichthuis is absolutely beautiful. Freedom Room is spacious and welcoming. The decor is that reclaimed and recycled retreat-style chic which the Dutch do so well. It is within walking distance of the beach and a short drive to Haarlem which is historic and full of unique shops, cafe's and restaurants. November is actually a good month to visit: it is quiet and a chance to see Dutch life without loads of tourists. In Zandvoort at this time of year, they decorate the streets and restaurants in a kind of Hallowe'en-Christmas style which is cosy and seasonal. An idyllic getaway from it all.
