Located in St John’s Chapel in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rookhope Arch is ideal for those who love being outside. With tumbling waterfalls, sweeping moorland views, dramatic dales and snaking stone walls, you’ll have plenty to discover. Perfect for walking, hiking, cycling, running and horse riding, you won’t get bored of things to do!
The Space:
Rookhope Arch has an open plan living, dining and kitchen space, double bedroom, modern bathroom and enclosed patio area.
You’ll be welcomed into a bright and homely space when you enter the living area. The dark leather sofa and matching chair are complimented perfectly with mustard cushions and a throw. The perfect place to relax, you can switch on the flat screen TV to watch Freeview or lay back on the sofa with a good book.
The dining area includes a breakfast style counter and bar stools. Tucked away behind the breakfast bar is the kitchen. With an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and washing machine, Rookhope Arch is fully equipped for self-catering stays. There is also the added luxury of a coffee machine so you can enjoy a fresh coffee each morning.
Head to the double bedroom and you’ll find a calming space with a neutral colour scheme. Pops of colour are added with mustard soft furnishings. There are light wood bedside tables framing the bed and tall mirrors above. The bedding and linens are high quality to ensure you have a restful night's sleep.
Outside you’ll find an enclosed patio area with a dining table and four chairs.
The modern and clean bathroom boasts a large walk in shower, WC and basin.
Chapel Place is home to four separate apartments with a maximum capacity of 10. If you are looking for a stay for a large group there are often opportunities to rent all four apartments together. Please send us an email with your preferred dates for availability and prices.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is free parking on the premises for one car. Additional free parking can be found nearby, and full details will be sent to you before check in.
Please note that the WiFi can be intermittent due to the property being in a remote area.
The Neighborhood:
Rookhope Arch is located in the charming village of St John’s Chapel in Weardale, on the south side of the River Wear. The largest village in the upper dale, this spot is especially popular with cyclists and walkers. A great location for those doing the alternative C2C route or trying their hand at challenges by Roof of England Cycling, there is plenty for you to discover on two wheels. If you’d prefer to explore by foot, there are so many walks on offer. You can enjoy quiet river walks, the long distance Weardale Way or hikes to the higher ground overlooking the valley.
The area is so beautiful, it makes up the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With thriving wildlife, a historic landscape and stunning scenery, it really does need to be seen to be believed. It is home to England’s largest waterfall and one of the darkest skies in the country where you can see 1000s of stars on clear night.
Other Things to Note:
The TV signal and wi-fi is intermittent due to location (remote Weardale valley) and no refunds will be given on the basis that the connection is not reliable.
