The Space:
You’ll be greeted by charm and style from the moment you walk through the front door at Fisherman’s Cottage. The open-plan living, kitchen and dining area is a real social hub and the ideal spot to relax with your loved ones during your stay in Cullercoats.
With a leather sofa, armchair and a coffee table, you’ll feel right at home at Fisherman’s Cottage. In the colder months, light the log-burning fireplace and enjoy a cosy night in front of the large flat-screen smart TV.
To the rear of this space is the stylish kitchen-diner. Equipped with modern appliances including a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, microwave, oven with hobs and a toaster, you’ll be able to enjoy a lovely home-cooked meal with minimal fuss. Matt wood cupboards, granite work surfaces and white tiles give an ultra-chic look to the kitchen in Fisherman’s Cottage. The dining table consists of a wooden table and matching chairs.
A small patio can be accessed from the kitchen’s french doors. Ideal for cleaning and storing beach equipment, the yard is equipped with a hose and washing line for your convenience. The yard also leads out onto a lane with easy access to Cullercoats seafront.
Back into the property and to the first bedroom which is on the ground floor. Premium linens help to make this double bedroom a truly cosy space. Pops of colour are added through the olive green cushions and the cream bed throw.
Staying downstairs, you’ll find a high-end bathroom with a large walk-in shower, WC and wash basin. The bathroom and ensuite both boast top of the range Grohe fittings.
Upstairs on the first floor is where you’ll find an ensuite super-king size bedroom. This tranquil haven will ensure guests have a blissful night’s sleep. You’ll be spoilt for space in this top floor bedroom which spans the full length of the property and has a dressing table at the far end of the room. The shower room offers a spacious shower, basin and WC.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is free on-street parking available near the property.
The Neighborhood:
Cullercoats is home to a sandy bay enclosed by small piers and as such is ideal for families. The village has been popular with generations of visitors with its secluded bay the highlight.
The beach has a Seaside Award and is ideal for bathing with the south of the bay regularly being used as a launch site for recreational crafts.
Back in the day, Cullercoats had a thriving fishing industry and small fishing boats - cobles - can still be seen in and around the bay today.
Dove Marine Laboratory, on the bay itself, is an important research centre for Newcastle University's School of Marine Science whilst the Victorian RNLI Lifeboat Station is still active today.
At the top of the north bank is Cullercoats Watch House. In the 19th Century Cullercoats developed a reputation as a popular artists' colony with the everyday lives of the fishing folk often used as subjects.
You are spoiled for choice with fish and chips, a pub lunch, a coffee and cake or an ice cream all on the menu in the village.
Getting Around:
Cullercoats has a station on the Tyne & Wear Metro. From here, you’ll have direct rail access to Newcastle city centre, as well as other towns and villages in the area, including Whitley Bay.
Newcastle Central Station has direct routes to locations all across the country, including London, Edinburgh, York, Leeds and Manchester. There are also direct services to towns and villages throughout the North East and Northumberland such as Hexham and further afield to Carlisle.
The ‘Coaster’ 1 bus service stops in Cullercoats, travelling from Whitley Bay to Gateshead via Tynemouth and Newcastle.
