Surrounded by the sea, the resort features a private beach area and on-site diving and snorkeling opportunities. Komodo Resort is a 1.5-hour boat ride to Labuan Bajo Harbor, and a further 10-minute drive to Komodo Airport. Positive: This resort gives you a private island experience with all of the conveniences of a hotel. We stayed in one the new hillside bungalows which was fantastic and a perfect size for my family of four. The house reef was the highlight of the property. You walk out to the end of the jetty and the resort provided a boat to take you to the end reef so that you can swim back with the current. We saw turtles, reef sharks, many large schools of fish, and impressive coral beds immediately in front of the resort. The property pool is also much better in person than in the photos.

Negative: The resort could be run so much better. You feel as though you're getting nickel and dimed at every turn. Add a rollaway bed to the room, pay a large fee. Leave later than 8:30a on your day of departure, pay $100 USD for a 20 minute boat ride to Labuan Bajo. Want a reasonably good coffee, pay a fee. The wine list was also obscenely expensive. I would have preferred a slightly higher nightly rate over added costs. The food is plentiful but mediocre international fare. There were a few items that were bad like hard chewy tuna in the seafood platter. FYI. the resort is also in a big expansion phase with at least another 20 bungalows already under development. There is already limited space in the dining room and the pool loungers are already fully occupied from morning to night. So I'm not sure what the future holds for this property.
