Lacemaker Cottage is a wonderful stone cottage hidden away in the peaceful and ancient Puzzle Gardens in the historic town of Wirksworth. Dating back to 1720 but recently renovated to a superb standard, the cottage retains lots of character with beamed ceilings, stone floors and wooden latched doors, a traditional fireplace with log burner, all blended with quality décor and sumptuous furnishings and fittings.
Ideally located to explore all of Derbyshire and the Peak District, there are many walks right from the front door. Just 500 yards up the hill and you’re into the rural beauty of the Dales and a short walk to the High Peak Trail and the start of the Pennine Bridleway. The location offers an abundance of outdoor pursuits from walking, cycling, climbing, sailing, fishing and water sports.
Wake up to far-reaching views from every window and breakfast in the private, south-facing garden. Stroll down the narrow historic streets into town and explore the local shops, cafés. charming pubs and restaurants, then maybe catch a film at the little Northern Lights cinema. Other attractions include the Ecclesbourne Valley Steam Railway, Wirksworth Festival, Astronomers’ StarDisc, Carsington’s water sports and nature reserve, Matlock Bath’s cable cars, or Alton Towers. Twenty minutes away is magnificent Chatsworth House and gardens, wonderful Haddon Hall and famous Bakewell.
