Our townhouse is located close to the bustling heart of Balmain, with its Pubs, Restaurants, Cafes, and only a short walk to all of Balmain's attractions. It is very light and spacious, with high ceilings, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a security garage, with a rear entrance to
the courtyard.
It has views to the city and the Harbour Bridge, and it is only either a 600 metre walk to the Thames St wharf, or a 1 km walk to the East Balmain wharf, to get to the city via our magical harbour.
House Description
The lounge, dining, kitchen, and courtyard are all on the open plan ground floor, with an adjoining laundry/bathroom. At the rear, flowing from the kitchen, is a courtyard which faces the northerly sun. There are 2 sun beds, should you wish to soak some up. In high summer we do have a large umbrella to protect you. There is a gas BBQ should you wish to do some outdoor cooking. Every room, including all the bathrooms, get an abundance of natural light, and there is reverse cycle air conditioning in each room, powered by a large roof-top
solar array. The hot water is also solar heated.
The home theatre has a 3 metre screen, and the lounge seats 6-8. We have Apple TV, Netflix, plus an internet TV recorder available. Computer connection to the large screen is possible
via HDMI or Vga cable, or Apple Airplay.
There are two queen bedrooms on the first floor. One has an ensuite bathroom with shower/bath, WC, and basin. In addition it has a walk-in wardrobe and a large sunny verandah.
The second queen bedroom also has a verandah, walk in wardrobe and a full size shower/bath, WC, and a basin.
We have fast NBN internet, with unlimited downloads and wifi transmitter. In addition there are cable internet points in every room, should you require faster speeds than the wifi can provide.
There is also a separate laundry with washer, drier, WC, & basin.
The Neighbourhood
An 600m stroll along Darling Street will take you past more than 40 cafes and restaurants.
Whether you like Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Greek, Mexican, Spanish, or Aussie, you will be able to find one that suits your taste. On the stroll you will also pass a huge variety of lovely little boutiques, bread and pastry shops, butchers, green grocers,
supermarkets, and wine, beer & spirits merchants.
Balmain was one of the earliest suburbs in Sydney becoming a major port, wharf and coal mining area in the 1800’s. This has made Balmain into a colourful, artistic peninsula. Its architecture reminds us of its working class background with its beautifully preserved 'workers cottages’ and a very large number of pubs. In fact it is known as the peninsula of pubs. The Bald Rock Hotel, built in 1876 is the longest continually licensed pub in the area and only a 1.2 km walk away. The London Pub, 50 metres away, has a street lining balcony, which
bursts with Balmain-ians meeting for their after work drinks. Dicks, The Exchange, The Royal Oak, The Dry Dock, The East Village, The Unity Hall, & The Cricketers Arms pubs are all within a 600 metre walk, & all are great options for a drink or a meal.
One other thing to note
This is a residential block of 4 townhouses with the majority of owners living on site. We do expect our guests to be very considerate of all of our neighbours and to respect their right to enjoy their home without disturbance.
