Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: I have been to Sri Lanka probably 60-70 times since my tsunami experience in 2004. The Laya Waves location and beach are outstanding. The staff was friendly, especially the person in charge of the rooms and we were invited to play volleyball with the staff.
Negative: The hotel restaurant needs cooks who know about feeding tourists. I was disappointed with the food I ordered, especially the chicken noodles. After a few bites, I gave up trying to avoid the small pieces of chicken still on the bones. Even my Sri Lankan friend, who hates to waste food, wouldn't eat it.
Summary: Laya Waves has a great location and friendly staff. The rooms are nice and all have sea views.
