Enjoy a great vacation in this comfy home located directly on the Tennessee River! In such a natural setting, you'll find a restful escape from your hectic daily routines while being just a few miles away from beautiful downtown Chattanooga, TN, where you can find so many activities and attractions to make your vacation adventure truly one to remember! Two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with two beds (one full and one twin), and a queen sleeper sofa in the living area provide plenty of room for the family, sleeping up to 6. Stairs lead up to the covered front porch where you'll step into the roomy open living area, offering plenty of seating for everyone to kick back and relax. Available here are a large-screen TV with basic cable, Blue Ray DVD player,a selection of family DVDs and board games, free WiFi, dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom off the kitchen area has a tub with shower. All bedding, bath, and kitchen linens are provided. Out the back door, you'll be delighted to find a beautiful glassed-in porch with ample seating and a dining table for meals, playing board games with the family, relaxing with a good book, and an amazing view of the river across the lawn - heat/air make this room a year-round treasure - it may well be your favorite spot in the house!
A deck off this room provides an outdoor seating area where you will be serenaded by so many varieties of birds or you can just veg out while watching the beautiful river.
From either the glass porch or the deck, don't be surprised to see barges and tugboats, folks out on kayaks and canoes, occasional tours or races, or even a riverboat making an autumn leaf excursion! All that said, the river is still so quiet most times that you will enjoy watching the graceful blue herons, occasionally be treated to the sighting of bald eagles in the area, and you may spot a deer getting a drink at the river's edge. Always something going on at the River House! and did we mention the stars? On a clear night, the sky is amazing!
Stairs from the deck lead down to a pretty lawn with roses, flowering trees and plenty of room to play lawn games with the family, cook at the grill and eat at the outdoor table, or settle back around the fire pit while you enjoy sunsets over the river and surrounding ridges. There is a walkway out to the riverside deck with seating and then on to the floating dock, perfect for fishing or, if you are bringing a boat, the perfect place to head out to explore the area. There is a fixed ladder off this dock for those who want to swim. There is a small dirt ramp near the dock for walking back out onto shore or for getting kayaks in/out of the water. The Suck Creek Boat Ramp ,a public ramp with parking, is just 11/2 miles away from the property so you can launch your boat there and drive it down to the dock, which is what we do. Two single-seat kayaks are available for use during your stay as are two basic life jackets. Kayaks and other watercraft are available to rent nearby.
In the basement, accessible from an outside door, is the laundry area with washer and dryer,
storage space for some of your gear, and another bathroom with a shower- a nice convenience for your outdoor activities!
