The only thing better than the amazing location at this charming home is the spectacular outdoor space – you may be one block from Sunset Cliffs, but step into your back yard and you won’t want to leave. Two sets of sliding glass doors – one in the living room and one in the main bedroom suite – offer outdoor access.
A broad brick patio holds the first of several seating areas, this one gathered around a wood-burning fireplace. Just to your left is more seating and a private hot tub, and down a few steps is the second patio, holding a dining table for six and a covered outdoor kitchen with a gas grill, range top, fridge, and farmhouse sink. Barstools at the concrete counter offer the perfect place for little helpers to perch. There’s an outdoor shower as well, perfect for rinsing off the sand after a day at the beach.
Finally, for those who may be looking for a bit more privacy, the backyard holds a charming studio casita with a separate entrance, featuring air conditioning, a queen bed, a coffee station, and a bathroom.
When you must go inside, luxurious touches continue in the bright, open space. Two living rooms, one with a gas fireplace and a large sectional, are perfect for family or group get-together time. The gleaming, spacious kitchen offers acres of granite countertops and a full suite of stainless steel appliances. At mealtime, if you’re not dining alfresco, a dining table for four and barstools for three offer mealtime options. At bedtime, three comfortable choices await in the main house. If you head out to explore, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, and Cabrillo National Monument are all an easy drive away.

There is a unit above the Casita in the back that is occupied by long-term tenants. They do not share any spaces or views of the backyard in their space. The property was designed with privacy in mind for the main house.

Summary: House has a nice layout and a very nice backyard area. Good for our group of 7 adults and a toddler and infant. Only 2 blocks to sunset cliffs area. Quiet area with plenty of parking in front of the house. The air conditioning was a welcome relief in keeping the house cool on hot days. Nicely furnished as shown in the listing photos. We had a major issue in that the refrigerator was not working on our arrival. After a number of attempts calling and texting VACASA they delivered a compact (dorm size) refrigerator as a substitute which was completely inadequate for our group. A free multiple calls and texts a refrigerator service man came the second day of our stay. After a quick check he indicated that the refrigerator could not be repaired quickly until a replacement compressor was found. We were stuck using a small ice chest we found in the backyard along with the mini-fridge they had delivered for the remainder of our stay. On Sunday (5 days into our stay) evening a serviceman showed up at 6 pm and said he had a replacement compressor to install. He then indicated that it would take a minimum of 2 hours and would likely be quite noisy. Since we were scheduled to depart the next morning we requested that he not disturb us during dinner and return after our departure. We found that VACASA was very poor in communicating what they might be doing to address the issue. It was a nice house, but our issue with the non working refrigerator and the response of the management agency left us with a very disappointing experience.
