Blue Lake Gem is a spacious, cozy, and inviting 2 bed, 2 bath home. Just 10 minutes east of Arcata, Blue Lake is a gem of a town on the redwood coast. The home is truly carpenter's labor of love with hand crafted wood touches from floor to ceiling, warm rich tones and colors and lots of windows creating a cozy and peaceful vibe. Enter to the warm and inviting living room with a cushy L-shaped couch, smart TV and kick back in the leather lounge chairs. The couch folds down into a queen sized bed to sleep up to 2 extra guests. The downstairs bathroom has a large clawfoot tub/shower, and the upstairs bathroom features a large walk in shower. Upstairs, you'll find the 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed, and plenty of closet space. There is also desk/workspace and a lounge area upstairs with a small couch and rocking chair perfect for cozying up to a book or an evening of games. Bring your best cook and enjoy the well lit and sunny chef's kitchen with large gas range, full fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and the tools to whip up all of your snacks and meals. The dining room has lots of windows, tall ceilings and seating for up to 6. In the backyard you'll find a propane grill, fire pit, plenty of outdoor seating as well as a lawn for those extra sunny days that call for a picnic!
The Neighborhood:
The home is located in the beautiful & friendly gem of a town, Blue Lake. Blue Lake is a 10 minute drive east of Arcata, conveniently situated just past the coastal fog line. 10 minute drive to Cal Poly Humboldt, 25 minutes north to Trinidad and the rocky coast line and within 45 minutes of Redwoods National and State Parks. The home is walking distance to the Mad River with nearby walking trails, a great place to swim and soak up the sun in summer or steelhead fish in winter. For mountain biking enthusiasts, the Blue Lake Mountain Biking Trails are not to be missed! Expect steep, raw, hand built single tracks twisting through Redwoods above the Mad River. A walk around town is a fun activity in itself, with beautiful views of the surrounding redwood forested mountains, pastures and landscapes of the river valley.
The city of Blue Lake is mostly residential, but offers several great local establishments such as the Mad River Brewery & Tap Room, Low n Slow BBQ, the world famous Logger Bar, Honeycomb Coffee, The Dog House, Blue Lake Pizza Company, Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theater, the Blue Lake Roller Rink, and Blue Lake Casino. The nearest grocery is Murphy's Market on Glendale, a 5 minute drive from the house. Don't miss out on some of the local festivals in Blue Lake such as the Humboldt Folklife Festival and Annie and Mary Day.

**This home is located next door to the volunteer fire department, the alarm will sound without warning, 3 times to alert volunteers of a call. It could not go off for several days in a row or could go off a several times in a day. It is loud and can be alarming the first time you hear it, please be aware if you have ptsd or sensitivities triggered by noise though you can rest assured the fire department team is on there way to help someone in need!**
A note about cleaning fees: Our cleaning fee includes a linen fee and ensures our housekeepers are paid a living wage and are bonded and insured.
