G Mama’s Place is only one mile from Sturgeon Bay and minutes to Door County’s intriguing places and colorful events. Escape from your hectic world and recharge at this unique efficiency apartment nestled below a large contemporary home. Choose to just settle in, or venture out and enjoy the delights of the area from your private retreat.
Not only are there the usual conveniences, Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, cable, and DVR, but some board games are stacked in the closet and a pool table is ready for use. Amenities abound at this retreat for two adults.
Many restaurants are within a 5 minute drive, a short bike ride or a long walk. If you decide to prepare your own food grocery stores are nearby. The efficiency apartment is equipped to make preparation convenient. There is a refrigerator, microwave, an electric fry pan and griddle and a hot plate. It has a coffee maker and toaster. Of course, there are dishes, utensils and cookware. A gas grill is located just outside the door. There is one queen sized bed with the linens provided. Towels are provided including some that can be used for water front activities.
You will know you are somewhere special as you walk the short, wooded path to your private entrance. As you round the corner of the house and approach your door there is the sound of water flowing over the rocks into a large natural pond. Goldfish hide in the pond; humming and song birds often gather at the nearby feeder. Mother Nature provides many of the truly unique amenities of G Mama’s Place.
Potowatomie State Park lends another dimension to the water/woods view – a sea of green trees in summer and vibrant orange, red and yellow ones in fall.
You can swim or sunbathe right on the property. Due to the current high water level of Lake Michigan, entry to the water for a swim is best done from the dock ladder rather than from the shore. Mother Nature decided to relocate our sand beach and entry from shore is quite rocky.
You can probably fish from the dock or use the old rowboat to fish along the shore line. If you are a kayaker, and bring your own kayak, you can launch right from the shore.
Bikers and runners can begin their activities from G Mama’s Place. A golf course is close and likewise public tennis courts.
There is a sauna in G Mama’s Place. Due to Covid 19 it is not currently available for the use of guests. It is hoped to be available for the fall season. Please check with the owner if that is important to you.
Mother Nature frequently provides spectacular sunsets. Not only are the sunsets beautiful but the mellow color displays that follow are memorable. The display may continue for a half hour or longer and is a time of peace and tranquility. The daytime noises of people and activity give way to the soothing sounds of nature settling down for the night.
There is a small fire pit overlooking the shore and wood is provided. Sitting around the fire under the dark, star filled sky can be a delightful end to a day of exploring!
