Walk out the door for a serene hike to a Redwood grove to see our nearby Hearth tree, or drive 10 minutes to pristine beaches, the Bunkhouse at Lobitos Creek Ranch is the perfect way to enjoy a family vacation in Northern California. Drive up to this secluded private getaway on a ridge above the Pacific Ocean and you’ll feel worlds away. At an elevation of nearly 1,000 feet above sea level our climate is warm and sunny most of the time. When it's hot in the Bay Area you can almost always rely on a cool ocean breeze at the Bunkhouse.
You can learn more if you Google: Lobitos Creek Ranch. For families and groups wanting to enjoy nature, this is a good place to do that. Our 70-acre property has our own trails, a dog run, tetherball and horse shoe pits. There is great cycling out our gate. Bunkhouse guests can enjoy a private BBQ and sitting area outside plus a basketball court built into the parking area.
The Bunkhouse's newly remodeled kitchen is well suited for a family with increased counter space and appliances, new lighting, open shelves with new plates, silverware and glassware. There are built in, slide out, trash containers and more drawers and shelves for what is a fully stocked kitchen. And yes, a full service dishwasher is also available. We have also added, an on demand, hot water system that can supply up to six gallons a minute of very hot water any time of day or night.
We've recently improved our hiking trails on the Ranch for visitors. Our horse Brownie is a favorite for guests to interact with. Horseback rides are available in Half Moon Bay on the beach or in the redwoods through Sea Horse Ranch.
We're about 40 minutes from SFO and 15 minutes from charming Half Moon Bay with its many restaurants and shops. From the Bunkhouse, you are within an hour of top Northern California destinations from San Francisco to Napa and from Silicon Valley to Santa Cruz.
The Bunkhouse has become one of the favorite Northern California destinations for guests both local, out of state and from overseas. For people with groups larger than 4-6 the ranch features two other adjacent lodges listed below to accommodate larger family reunions, retreats, birthday events and weddings.

Take the video or the 3D virtual tour of the Bunkhouse. It features a Cal King in the Master bedroom, and a bunk room with two twin beds. The couch in the living room-dining room folds out to a queen size bed. There is a kitchen, bathroom and living room with a wood-burning fireplace. Firewood is outside by the BBQ stacked and cut to size.
Amenities include a flat screen TV, WiFi connectivity, private parking, an outdoor picnic area with a propane grill and also a Webber charcoal grill.
For dog owners we have a half-acre fenced in dog run in our orchard where your pets can explore and discharge some energy.

Adventures including: hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, sailing, deep sea fishing, golf and tennis are all close by. The wildlife viewing opportunities in the Bay Area are exceptional. From whale watching to birding, you won't be disappointed. The Bunkhouse at Lobitos Creek Ranch is only 25 minutes from the world heritage site at Año Nuevo State Park where from January to March the spectacle of hundreds of mating elephant seals is on display.
In October we are known for our pumpkins. From town in Half Moon Bay, it's only 45 minutes North to downtown San Francisco where you can take a cable car to visit Chinatown or a ferry to Sausalito, or discover BART and head over to Berkeley. It's no accident that Apple, Google, Facebook, Uber, Airbnb and many more call the Bay Area their home. After an exhilarating outing you will be ready to return to your cozy retreat in the hills.
Our latest attraction, just a few miles from the ranch, is the "super bloom". Fields of yellow mustard plants, as bright as the sun, are attracting people from all over.
Spend a day in Napa or Sonoma if wine tasting is on your list of destinations when visiting the Bay Area. Or make a day visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the galleries of Carmel. Travel about an hour and a half to the South along Highway 1, one of the most beautiful stretches of the California Coast, stopping at beaches along the way.
Our three closest beaches within 10 minutes to the ranch are: San Gregorio, Cowell-Purisima and Martin's Beach.
