If you are dreaming of a coastal vacation with emphasis on luxury and simplicity, look no further than this captivating home on the Intra-Coastal Waterway, Marker 40! Stunning views from the large covered porch overlooking the Intra-coastal and pool where you can enjoy your coffee or favorite cocktail in the evening. Remember there is no "BRIDGE" to Daufuskie Island. Your adventure would start with a choice of Private boat, ferry or your own Private boat. This home is located on the Intra-coastal waterway, Marker 40 with 50ft deep water at high tide. It's only a 20 min boat ride to Savannah and Hilton Head. The fishing is excellent in the area and you can catch, redfish, speckled trout and sheepshead right from the dock in the backyard. You will need to rent a golf cart or bike once you get unpacked for your ventures on the island. Groceries are very limited on the island, although we are happy to announce that we now have a large general store (D'Fuskie's Store & Eatery), with many food items available. It is recommend you plan your meals and bring your main groceries on the island when you come. Take your time to explore the island, relax, rejuvenate your mind and soul, and most of all, enjoy our little piece of Heaven. If you want to taste the unique flavors of rum, bourbon or vodka distilled right here on the island, visit the Daufuskie Island Distillery. If Wine is your pleasure then for sure visit the Wine & Woodworks that has a choice of organic wines. School Ground Coffee Shop is the perfect place to start your day or boost your afternoon with a gourmet coffee or expresso, lemonade and much more! There is a wonderful historic church on the island that holds interdenominational Christian services each Sunday.
There are various activities throughout the year including farmer's markets, oyster roasts, 4th of July celebrations, and New Year Eve gatherings. Horse back riding is available for all ages. Visit the Bloody Point Lighthouse museum and it is highly recommended to take an afternoon for a self guided island tour via golf carts.
The biggest treasure on the island is the beach. It is a 3 mile pristine expanse of sand, water, shells and wildlife. Don't worry about finding a place to sit- the beach is never crowed and often you may be the only one on the beach. Enjoying swimming , surf fishing, watching wildlife, or collecting shells. Watch for playful dolphins.
The outdoor pool is facing the intra-coastal and come complete with lounge chairs and outside shower.
