Stylish & romantic getaway for couples & friends! 2 blocks to gorgeous sunsets on secluded bay beach! This quaint & quirky house is the perfect place for an adult respite (only infants & kids 5 yrs & up). Stocked w/ everything you need: hot tub, gas fireplace, beach supplies, bikes, bar cart, outdoor shower, 2 fire pits, picnic table, screened in porch w/dining table & lounge area!
1) Occupancy, mobility issues & kids: Please don't exceed 4 guests. The house is 800 square ft so if you're coming w/ 4 people, make sure you love your travel mates.
This is not a house for small children or people who have mobility issues with stairs. The 10 step stairs are very steep, only have one handrail & are completely open upstairs (see pics). There are many breakable items staged throughout. Well behaved children 5 years & up are welcome. Babies who do not crawl or climb are also welcome.
2) Quirks & Cozy Features: Please review pics of smaller bedroom w/ the queen bed (not a spacious room), the open-air full bath w/ swinging door & the VERY small half bath. We can close the door to the bathroom while using the toilet because we're under 6 feet, but we've had some taller folks say they have to really squeeze in.
3) Ants: Our neighborhood is built on a sand dune & has a high-water table which is a favorable environment for ants (not the biting kind). We have the outside sprayed professionally & we spray the inside w/ all-natural non-toxic spray which we also provide for your use. This usually mitigates any issue but there is an occasional siting. That said, if you have a phobia of ants, Saltbox is probably not the best fit.
4) Bay Beach: We are a 5 min walk to a gorgeous bay beach where you can see incredible sunsets. Ocean beaches are a 10-15 min drive. We provide 4 tags to Cape May City beaches.
5) Landscaping/Hot Tub Cleaning: Every other Tuesday is our landscaping day. If your stay coincides w/ a Tuesday, you may run into our friendly and professional landscaper outside. He is usually there for less than an hour. Our property manager cleans the hot tub every turn. If you arrive before 3:00, you may run into him outside. On the VERY rare occasion, he may need to come after 3:00. If you book, please let us know asap if either one of these things is a privacy issue.
-CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: Check-in is at 3:00 PM, & check-out is at 10:00 AM. Many guests typically are granted early check in at 1:30 PM. We'll notify you once our cleaners finish, & we may allow late check-outs if there are no incoming guests. However, confirmation for early check-in & late check-outs are provided closer to your stay. Note: Early check-ins & late check-outs are commonly not available during the high season (May-September) due to our cleaner’s busy schedule, especially not late check out.
-RENTAL AGREEMENT: Rental Agreement is required which includes hot tub & bike waivers. This will be sent to your email address via Dropbox. It's very easy to sign digitally.
-LINEN AND TOWEL SERVICE INCLUDED: Linens & towels provided gratis & include bath towels, wash cloths, hand towels & Turkish beach/hot tub towels! For bed coverings we provide comforters, & you will find a clean duvet cover folded on the bed. Guests who prefer not to deal w/ putting on a duvet cover are welcome to bring their own blankets.
-OUTDOOR SECURITY CAMERAS: We have 2 Ring cameras. One is on the outside of the front porch facing towards the parking/street. The second is on the outside of the yard gate to deter trespassing in the yard (hasn't been an issue so far).
-HOME DESCRIPTION:
Build memories in this magical little light-filled beach house surrounded by trees. The house is newly renovated w/ a modern & clean open living room & kitchen design unique to the shore. Midcentury & boho boutique décor staged throughout. Cozy up near the gas fireplace or relax in the year-round hot tub after exploring wineries, the Nauti distillery & Coldspring brewery all w/in minutes (driving) from the house. During the summer, walk to our seasonal bayside restaurant, Harpoons for great food & live music.
Note: Air & heat is provided by 2 wall mini splits. There are also 3 large, freestanding floor units that are vented to the outside. The floor units in the living room & upstairs are kept off & are only for used for contingency. The unit in the downstairs bedroom may be used for air or heat. The primary source of heat is provided by a gas fireplace in the living room.
Living Room: You will find a wall mounted smart TV, bar cart w/ complimentary bar accoutrements (bitters etc.) record player w/ Bluetooth for streaming music & adult card/board games provided for rainy days and fun evenings inside.
Toilet Room Queen Bedroom: There is a tiny first floor powder room next to an adorable bedroom w/ queen sized bed & stacked washer & dryer in the closet. NOTE: We've incorporated a luggage rack in this room, a shelf above our storage area & a large basket in the living room to store luggage bags & since the room has little floor space.
Loft/Main bedroom & Full Bath: The second floor has an open-air, full marble and stone bathroom with large shower. The large bedroom has a king-sized bed, dresser, desk, open ceiling & four (4) skylights. On one side of the bed see trees sway overhead & on the other see stars in the night sky. Netflix & chill in bed with your boo watching the 50-inch smart TV.
Kitchen: Fully stocked w/ espresso & coffee machine, blender, hand press juicer to make crushes & air fryer. Stainless Bosch gas cooks top, & dishwasher. Built-in cabinet microwave. Cook to your heart's desire but also enjoy the tasty year-round restaurants less than a mile away. NOTE: There is not a stove but a large convection oven is provided.
-OUTDOORS & BEACH EQUIPMENT: Enjoy the spacious fenced in yard which includes a 6-person hot tub, comfy sectional, outdoor shower (open April-November), outdoor games, gas grill, wood & propane fire pit & picnic table with umbrella. We provide chairs, a beach cart, & an umbrella. NOTE: Bikes are not guaranteed as they may need occasional maintenance. A bike pump is provided & if there are any issues, we will make every attempt to have a bike repairman come out during your visit asap.
-HOST RECOMMENDATIONS: We will send a well curated guide w/ links to the area following booking.
CHECOUT PROCEDURES:
1). Take out trash and recycling including trash by grill. Please do NOT bag recycling. It will not be picked up if it's in bags.
2). Stripping beds used including duvet covers & leaving sheets, duvet covers, beach and bath towels in the laundry bags found in the laundry baskets upstairs (please leave pillow encasements, bed covers and duvet inserts/comforters on bed). Please leave any unused towels or linens folded.
3). Washing all dishes, emptying dishwasher & put all dishes away, cleaning inside of toaster oven if any spills occur, removing food from refrigerator.
4) Cleaning beach items used & leaving the shed organized.
5) Turning off any battery-operated candles.
6) Clean fire pit & grill before departure if used.
7) Cover outdoor furniture before departure.
8) Turn fireplace to pilot if used but please don't completely turn off.
HOUSE RULES:
This seems like a lotta rules but we just want to give ya all the info. We promise we're pretty chill hosts! :)
1) Most important rule: Guests are to text us asap if they have any concerns or questions. Your satisfaction is paramount to us & we want to fix any issue that comes up to the best of our ability & as quickly as possible.
2)Fireplace: Please do not put anything on top, beside or in front of the fireplace. This is a fire hazard.
3)No children under 5 years old except infants who are not crawling. Children must be supervised at all times.
4)NO fire works, glitter, confetti, self tanner or hair dye to be used on premises.
5)Keep food contained, dishes to a minimum and counters clear to avoid ants.
6)Please use trash bag in trash by grill.
7)No pets.
8)NO electric bikes or scooters allowed. Batteries have been known to explode and start fires.
9)Must be 25 to rent this house (guests of the individual who booked are allowed to be younger) & host may require a photo ID. NO proms or parties. The individual renting must stay at the house during their rental (not just book the house for younger guests).
10) Separate rental agreement which covers the hot tub & bikes is required. All rules in agreements must be followed. All tenants/guests must read rules.
11) Fire Pits and Grill: Guests must bring wood for the wood burning fire pit. Secondary firepit and grill run off of propane tanks. Usually tanks are full. On the very rare instance the tank is empty, guests are responsible to refill tanks at ACE Hardware or elsewhere if they want to use these amenities. Text us a receipt & we will reimburse you.
14)Hot Tub:
-Guests are to check the hot tub upon arrival & adjust the temperature to their liking. We recommend 100-101 when in use.
-ALWAYS put the cover back on after exiting, re-attaching the straps or it could blow off, dirtying the water, decreasing the temp & or worse injuring someone. (see agreement and sign by patio for more hot tub rules)
15)Report damages immediately. The host will negotiate a fair price and attempt to work out a fair payment w/out the threat of a bad review. Deposit does not require a hold on your card unless specified by rental site in which you booked.
16)No smoking allowed. $500 violation fee for any smoke odor found inside
17)Quiet time 9:00 PM-7:00 AM. Yard is large enough to stay up late on the patio but be considerate regarding music etc. If Police shows up to premises due to non-emergency related calls such as noise disturbances, illicit or hurtful activities, parties, fights or altercations host will seek eviction.
