Escape to this cozy and stylish private hideaway of over 55 acres to spend your days relaxing nestled amongst a canopy of trees with a view to private lake (Wash Pond). This is your off the beaten path adventure to make some memories. Spend your days relaxing at the house or explore the many natural springs and nature parks during a family vacation or couple's romantic getaway. Spend your nights roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and gazing at the stars. It is a perfect getaway spot to unplug and do a little R and R. We provide a tv with dvd/blue-ray player and a good selection of movies, a few board games, and good old-fashioned books and magazines to read. The best Wi-Fi available in this area is provided (THE INTERNET IS APPROX 20 megs download) and the player is configured to stream Amazon Prime Video (please note THERE IS NO CABLE TV). There is a second TV in the middle bedroom for streaming or watching dvds. The master/primary bedroom has a projector that you could use to watch a movie projected onto the wall.
There is a fire pit area so you can roast some s'mores while stargazing. We provide telescopic s’mores sticks.
OUTSIDE PARK-STYLE CHARCOAL GRILL
We have a park style charcoal grill and have a picnic table under the carport. We can provide charcoal for you for a $5 additional fee. Please message us ahead of time so we can ensure we can have charcoal for you or otherwise bring your own.
INSIDE WOOD BURNING FIRE STOVE
During cold winter nights please bring some firewood so you can light yourself a nice fire. If you'd like for us to provide the firewood for the inside wood stove please message us ahead of time and we will provide it and have it ready for you for a $5 fee.
OUTSIDE FIRE PIT
We have a wood pile outside for you to grab some and use in the outside fire pit. We try to keep the fire pit covered with the blue tarp to keep it dry.
OFFICE/WORK SPACES
There is a dedicated office/reading room just off the laundry room. We also added a multipurpose table with three stools that can be used for additional eating space or working space. That table has a built-in outlet for your convenience.
You will have the entire recently renovated and tastefully decorated 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms plus office home. We also change out the decor with the seasons or major holidays so you can always expect an extra special seasonal decor touch.
The kitchen is equipped with all the basics to cook including cooking oil, spices, baking soda/baking powder, salt & pepper and other seasonings. The kitchen is well stocked with all the usual cooking instruments and utensils like a microwave plus a few more like waffle maker, slow cooker, beater, full size blender and smaller blender, toaster oven. There is a laundry room with free washer and dryer for your use. Complimentary bottled water, coffee, assorted tea and accompaniments are provided for your enjoyment.
The property is approximately a 5 minutes drive to downtown Mayo and is located on a paved road. Mayo is a very quiet, safe and welcoming very small town with one of the lowest population densities in the entire state and no traffic. There is very little light pollution at night allowing for amazing starry nights on clear nights.
The house is best suited for groups of 7 people or less, preferably a combination of no more than 4-5 adults and the rest being children that can use the top bunk bed without any issues. The king size bed in the master bedroom easily accommodates 2 adults, the middle bedroom has a queen size bed that can accommodate up to 2 adults, and the third bedroom has a full over full bunk bed. Kids love the bunk beds but it may be difficult for an adult to get to the top bunk so we do provide a folding roll away single bed (memory foam mattress) that can be used if needed. The house is also very spacious and you would have no problem finding a spot to put up an air mattress if needed.
Easy drive to other interesting cities. The property is located approximately 25 minutes drive from Live Oak, FL; 50 minutes from Lake City, FL; 30 minutes from Madison, FL (quaint town reminiscent of a Hallmark movie town); 1.25 hrs to Gainesville, FL. Valdosta, GA is about an hour away (take a day trip to Wild Adventures amusement park in Valdosta, GA). The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak is only approx. 33 miles away. Go to Steinhatchee on the Gulf, an easy drive away, for deep sea fishing +fresh seafood. Tallahassee is less approx. 1.5 hours car drive away.
