Exquisite 4 bedroom, 4 bath luxury lodge on a pristinely cared for historical homestead site in the heart of Paradise Valley, Montana. This breathtaking log home sits on 35 acres at the base of the Absaroka Wilderness area - views in all directions.
This highly scenic year-round recreational retreat is located 20 minutes south of Livingston and 40 minutes from Yellowstone National Park. However, the Shorthill Lodge is a destination all itself. Somehow our Lodge makes for a perfect romantic getaway or a family vacation destination. A four-bedroom, four-bath custom log home nestled perfectly in the foothills of the Absaroka Mountain Range. A 360-degree 4,000 square foot deck wraps the house to take in the spectacular views of three mountain ranges. You enter the property along a picturesque stone lined drive, crossing over the flowing McDonald Creek and views of the sweeping mountains, Yellowstone River and Paradise Valley. Outside you can hike, wander, paint, read, explore, and ski or snowshoe. Inside you can warm up inside the lodge where large picture windows allow ample wildlife & scenic viewing from every room. The cabin has a sophisticated lodge feel, hand-peeled logs and custom wrought iron detailing throughout. A gourmet kitchen with gas Wolf appliances is equipped with everything needed to cook and entertain.
There are two master suites upstairs. The first master bedroom has a king sleep number bed with high quality linens, and a large whirlpool tub (with picture window) perfect for soaking after a long day. The second master suite, also with a king bed , and a private bath with a rain shower head. This room has huge views of 2 mountain ranges and the mighty Yellowstone River carving the valley. Also upstairs is a den with a full size pull out couch.
The main level has 2 additional bedrooms and a full size bath. The huge vaulted ceilings of the living room allow for the picture windows to take in the massive mountain views and several ways to access the wrap around deck. Just down the stairs in the walk out basement level is another common area with a huge sectional and large screen tv, as well as a pool table and a full bath with Steam shower. The laundry room and workout / game room are also on this level. Some workout equipment and a children's trampoline (with net) are located in this bonus area that opens to the driveway.
The property itself has many places to explore. You can sit by the creek and read a book, explore the rock garden or watch the birds from a rocker on the deck. Shorthill also boasts a built in extra large propane grill and covered outdoor dining area, stocked pond with huge Rainbow trout to feed, a fire pit and abundant wildlife viewing. The snowy winters are just as beautiful and exciting as the green mountain summers at the Shorthill Ranch.
We are located minutes from the Yellowstone River and several access points for fly-fishing, rafting, or scenic floats. Chico Hot Springs and Day Spa is a short 15 minute drive from the house. Chico has several dining options as well as a Hot Spring to soak away the day. Live music nightly on the weekends and a Sunday brunch not to be missed. Chico also has horseback rides in the summer and dog sledding in the winter. The emerging and must see town of Emigrant is a short 10 minute drive away - full of live music, BBQ, bakeries, a local grocery store, bank and full service Fly Fishing shop. We are about 20 min from Livingston.

For your convenience there is a key pad on the front door. Your stay at Shorthill Lodge include access to the home and the creek, pond and lands that surround it. The property has an easement that allows access to National Forest Service lands as well. Most of your time will be spent just around the house, on the spacious decks are huddled around the outdoor fire pit.

20 minutes south of Livingston, off a rural highway, a country road leads you to the stone wall and gate at Shorthill. You will not be bothered by neighbors on this get away from it all location! Garbage service is not available at this location, there are several places nearby to dispose of your bagged garbage, a map will be provided.
Please have a 4wd / or high clearance vehicle, especially in the winter.
Private stocked trout pond is on property. Please practice catch and release only, with barbless hooks. It is very difficult and expensive to restock the pond. Guests have access to 35 private acres as well as the adjacent Forest Service access.
