Experience Bay Area living from a custom built tiny home in the rustic park-like setting of our backyard in El Cerrito, a small hillside East Bay town with stunning views of San Francisco and the Bay. You'll be nestled in a quiet, walkable neighborhood close to markets, highways and the El Cerrito del Norte BART station. Stay in and enjoy the serenity of our garden and pet chickens, or hop on BART and in minutes be exploring Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco.
We take pride in providing a special experience and a home base from which guests can explore San Francisco and the Bay Area. The Coop is a 400-square foot dedicated guesthouse housed in the secure privacy and greenery of our backyard.
Features include 2 beds, a full kitchen and bathroom, WiFi, a fire pit, washer/dryer access, plentiful free street parking and an option for level 2 electric vehicle plug in.
The Coop most comfortably sleeps two but could easily sleep three if you all like each other! You will have a fully equipped kitchen (complimentary freshly ground coffee/tea, a Chemex pour over coffee maker/French Press coffee maker, an electric kettle, an induction cooktop, a Breville oven, a blender, a rice cooker, a microwave and a neighborhood Safeway supermarket) and a shower bathroom featuring plush towels, toiletries and a hairdryer.
There is a full-size bed in the loft and a full-size sleeper sofa on the ground floor. The loft requires ascending/descending a well anchored ship's ladder. For parents, the Coop’s loft is not suitable for toddlers and small children. For safety reasons because we do not have a safety gate, small children should not be in the loft.
While we do provide high speed wireless and a Bose Mini Soundlink bluetooth speaker, the Coop does NOT contain a TV. We do however have books and board games. :-) I

We call our guesthouse the Coop because we have egg-layers (aka chickens) on the property. Our backyard garden is shared space - you'll share the yard with our "girls" Ivory, Phoebe and Joey, who love to roam and forage outside their own coop in the late afternoons.
Private entry to the backyard and the Coop is through a coded gate off of our home's driveway. The well lit footpath involves following a flagstone gravel path into our backyard, and descending eight steps down a natural rock staircase with a railing to the lower yard gravel path.
Given our proximity to UC Berkeley, we are well-located for visiting parents or families - e.g. Cal Day, Golden Bear Orientation, Alumni/Parents Weekend and Commencement. #GoBears
