Peaceful, quite getaway, ideal for couples and small families. Beautiful home on a stunning salt water cove near Town of Stonington, on Deer Isle, in the well-known sailing paradise of Penobscot Bay. Surrounded by 7 acres of evergreen forest, in a small, quiet area 5 miles from downtown Stonington. House was designed by noted Blue Hill architect Robert Knight and is abundantly sunny and airy, with over 50 windows or skylights allowing for an airy and light-filled interior.
Second floor Master bedroom looks out on beautiful surroundings and coast and provides a treasured escape, elegant bath, gabled ceilings, and luxurious feel. Hardwood floors, classy tile work, interior flower boxes, and both a screen porch and sun deck.
Top of the line fixtures in kitchen and baths. Shower in Master bath is exceptional with beautiful views of the forest. Includes wood stove and is fully winterized. Wifi is currently not available in this area of the island, but we provide a US Cellular hot spot. Access to wifi is also available at certain places on the island, including both libraries, the golf course, and some restaurants and cafes.
Pets allowed with owner's permission. Deer Isle is what Julia Child referred to as 'true Downeast Maine' when she often vacationed near this home. With lobster and seafood galore!
Sea Kayaking can be done right from the property's edge (3 boats available). Island has small golf course, tennis, many hiking trails, freshwater pond, and gorgeous sunsets. Haystack Mountain School of Arts and Crafts is a renowned workshop facility on the island. Ninety minutes from Acadia National Park. It's a short ferry boat trip from Stonington to Isle au Haut, which is part of Acadia National Park. Internet access thru hot spot. Dish TV.
Deer Isle is also well know for its artist community, with many wonderful galleries and antique shops.
