This three-bedroom, three-full-bath cottage exudes the kind of at-ease ambiance that tells you you're right where you need to be to have the best vacation ever. The cottage is in the Meadows neighborhood on the grounds of an impressive Key West estate. Like something out of a classic Hollywood movie, a magnificent twenty-five-foot pool with two waterfalls dominates the grounds. ...oodles of native foliage. It goes without saying that beauty, and shade abound, yet you're within walking distance of everything the Southernmost City has to offer.

A calm pallet of white and neutral tones set the stage as you step off the antique brick walkway and pass through classic French doors into the living room. This first area offers a deep-set couch, wicker side chair with arms, and a glass coffee table. Above is a ceiling fan that also provides light, and below a travertine floor with area rugs accents. Central AC keeps you cool on sultry summer days; stereo, DVD, and multiple TVs keep you entertained when you're too tired for one more sightseeing event on any given day.
Adjacent to the living room is a marble-top table with four black lacquered stools. Sit here to sip your morning coffee or a sandwich at lunchtime. Next is the kitchen with a compact, functional layout. All the appliances and amenities you'll need are at your fingertips, whether you plan to cook meals or warm up leftovers from dinner out at some fantastic restaurant. White cabinets above and below guarantee you'll have plenty of space to put things away when not in use.
To the right of the living/kitchen area is the master bedroom that boasts of relaxation even as you peek in from the door. Maybe it's the neutral pallet repeated or the delightful windows or the calming Acosta artwork on the walls. Probably the white duvet cover and white pillow shams adorning the king bed have something to do with it, too. A generous dresser and walk-in closet mean there's plenty of room for your folded and hanging vacation items. Plus, the dresser is the perfect resting place for the TV in case you want to watch a sporting event or movie before you fall asleep. The en-suite full bath is spacious and soothing.
The rest of the cottage offers two similarly appointed bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a full bath, and the promise of serene sleep. As throughout the cottage, the comfort of the guests has clearly been the main motivator in furniture and décor selection for all three bedrooms.
Outside is the seriously stunning pool-one of the largest on the island-that you share with the estate owners. In fact, the cottage is named Ultimate Pool Cottage in its honor. If you're like most visitors, you'll spend a good part of your time floating or swimming in the sparkling turquoise water and congratulating yourself on finding paradise. When you're in the mood for sunning yourself or reading a book, use the chaise lounge chairs nearby. There's a gas grill in case you decide to barbecue some fresh local fish and enjoy dinner by the pool. For sure you'll want to take selfies to text to your friends back home.
When it's time to explore a wider geography, you'll find yourself about five blocks from Duval Street with its abundance of offerings: tours, museums, shops, drag shows, and a plethora of restaurants and bars, most offering Happy Hour specials. Maybe take a Conch Train Tour, a Historic Key West self-guided Walking Tour, or a bike tour to get a better idea of the island geography. If the arts interest you, you've come to the right place for music, movies, plays, art galleries, lectures, artists in residence, and more.
You'll also want to explore the White Street corridor. In one direction it leads to a pier jutting out into the wide Atlantic. Nearby is Higgs Beach, a delightful stretch of sand and ocean. At a curve in the beach sits Salute, a locals' favorite restaurant overlooking the beach where you can have an excellent lunch or dinner among writers, artists, and families. Or walk a bit further down to the Sun-Sun Beach Bar & Grill at Casa Marina. Still overlooking the Atlantic is Louie's Backyard, a Caribbean-American restaurant known for fine dining. Or have a drink under umbrellas at their Afterdeck bar.
In the other direction, White Street leads you close to the Historic Seaport and Harbor Walk on the Gulf of Mexico. Follow the wooden boardwalk to find historic tall ships offering day and sunset sails. Or take an all-day ferry excursion to the Dry Tortugas. If you're interested in watersports, there's all kinds: diving, fishing, parasailing, snorkeling, and jet skiing to name a few. Be sure not to miss the spectacular sunset celebration every evening at Mallory Square, where visitors and locals gather to applaud as the last curve of the sun dips below the horizon.
