Positive: The Villa has the wow factor. It's very spacious and well furnished with quality statement pieces and impressive features. The outlook is fantastic with uninterrupted Ocean views as well as out to Ponta de Sao Lourenco. The outside space including the terraces are private and very large. The standard of housekeeping was very high and we were very grateful to the ladies who meticulously cleaned the Villa, great job.
Negative: The Villas location is very exposed to the elements out on the east coast and unfortunately we encountered some unseasonably poor weather. Being first timers to Madeira we weren't prepared for this which is totally down to our slack research. What was disappointing from MHM's point of view was a number of issues stemming from the build quality of the Villa itself. We only needed four of the bedrooms which was a lucky as the fifth smelt of sewage throughout the stay. This has been commented on in another review so is a reoccurring problem. We also struggled with the fuse boards tripping out. This happened on 4 separate occasions and we were not able to isolate the issue and were without electricity for 2 full mornings and 1 evening. We were even trapped inside the Villa for a morning by the electric security gates. The problem seemed to be caused by the pool pump or pool lighting and it would cause the water to drain away which in turn meant we were without the use off the pool for 2 full days whilst it reset and filled back up again. These things happen of course and whilst annoying the really disappointing thing was that our management contact didn't take any responsibility for fixing the issue no apology and no follow up call to see if the problems had been resolved. Basic customer service in my view. The poor electrician who was sent out to deal with the issue admitted that they needed to overhaul the wiring system which was out of scope in the season. First world problems but when you pay for premium accommodation you shouldn't expect to encounter mediocre service support.
Summary: A great looking Villa but let down by structural issues & poor response with management support.
