The house itself has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Upstairs the primary bedroom has a king bed with a walk-in closet and private bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds. An additional bathroom with a clawfoot tub and separate shower is upstairs as well. The fourth bedroom is downstairs in the reading room and has a twin daybed with twin pullout trundle underneath. There is a downstairs bathroom as well. A pack-n-play can be provided upon request.
The outdoor grounds of the Maxson House have much to offer. The large driveway allows for ample parking. The private patio is lined with beautiful, tall hedges. Hanging lights provide a cozy glow perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or dinner outdoors with family and friends. Take a walk thru the Dahlia gardens or harvest your own vegetables and herbs from one of the many raised garden beds on the property.
Before booking, please keep in mind the Maxson House was built in 1854 and with that comes all of the older, yet charming characteristics of a historic house. For instance, in 1854 there was no air conditioning. In the spring and summer months air conditioning units will be in place in the windows. The house does have heat, so during the cooler months the heat can be turned on. In addition, the house is adjacent to the Amtrak train tracks. They are not as loud as a regular train but can be subtly heard within the house. With that said, we have personally never had a problem being disturbed or woken up by them.
