Welcome to the coziest little chalet in the Nantahala National Forest! You will not be disappointed in choosing our cabin. It’s the perfect getaway for couples and small families. Whether you are looking for a weekend of peace and tranquility or adventure in the mountains, this property can accommodate your needs. This IS our second home, so we certainly did not spare on the comforts of home. So get ready to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the outdoors. We cannot wait to have you as a guest!

***THE SPACE***
Whiskey Barrel Lodge is everything you are looking for in a mountain vacation! Our home is a 2bd/2bth chalet which boasts a beautiful four post king bed in the master bedroom upstairs and a second bedroom downstairs, with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The kitchen and bathrooms offer granite countertops and our kitchen has the infamous whiskey barrel kitchen island. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs and has stainless steel appliances. Also on the main level, you will find a full size, Samsung front load washer and dryer. We have an open porch with plenty of rockers and a screened porch with lounging and dining areas. A fire pit area is available for those awesome firefly nights. If you prefer to stay inside to watch the big game, there are three flat screen TVs with satellite TV, streaming capabilities and Wifi. There is also a propane powered fireplace on the main level, however it is only operable during the winter months. The home is also stocked with plenty of board games and books for your enjoyment. There are stairs to walk up on the porch of the cabin, as well as a flight of stairs to get to the loft bedroom (please see pictures).
You will be pleased with fresh linens and each guest is provided with a STARTER pack of convenience items such as dish soap, laundry detergent/dryer sheets, and toilet paper.
***CABIN EXTERIOR***
Step outside to the fresh mountain air in the Nantahala National Forest! There is an open front porch with plenty of rockers for your enjoyment. The screened-in back porch has been a hit with guests, as it offers plenty of lounge space to relax and read a book or sip on your morning coffee. If outdoor dining is your preference, the table on the porch has plenty of seating for that gourmet mountain meal! We have provided a gas grill for those awesome mountain cookouts on our deck and the fire pit is a must on those chilly nights.
***THINGS TO DO***
The best part about our cabin is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! You are literally within minutes of golfing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking (a trail right at the end of our street!), zip lining, shopping, SEVERAL waterfalls and more! Not to mention, you are within 15 minutes of Harrah's Casino and gorgeous Lake Hiawassee where pontoon rentals are offered.

Snow skiing at Cataloochee Ski resort in Maggie Valley, NC (1.75 hours away); The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC (2 hours away); Sliding Rock (1.75 hours away) Anna Ruby Falls, Helen, Georgia (1 hour away)
***GUEST ACCESS***
Access to our home cannot be any easier! There is no office to go to for key pick up, rather the key is located AT the property itself, which our guests LOVE! Early check-ins ARE available provided there are no same day check-outs.
***GUEST PRIVACY***
We are in a mountain community where each home is located on approximately one half acre lot. Out of the 40 homes, a dozen or so are full time residences. The rest of the homes are vacant until the owners come for summers, holidays, or the fall. We cannot speak out of turn or predict when other owners in the surrounding homes will be there, however our experience (so far), is that Summer /Fall is when owners visit most. Even with a full mountain, it's a very quiet community and we ask all vacationers to please respect the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood. All of our neighbors are extremely respectful and often times, love to tell guests about the area.
***ROAD ACCESS/PARKING***
The roads to our driveway are paved. A very small portion of the roadway is steep (we are 2100 feet up the mountain!), a majority of our neighbors do not own 4x4 vehicles, so it's okay if you don't either! We do recommend however, during certain weather conditions in the winter, you have a 4WD vehicle (during snow/ice). This is the responsibility of the guest to monitor the weather as your check-in day approaches. We are also pleased to announce that the road to our cabin is safe for those motorcycle enthusiasts! Our driveway for the homes is gravel and can accommodate 2-3 vehicles with no issues.
***GUEST LIMIT***
Our cabin currently has a maximum capacity of 4 people. Children are allowed at the cabin, however it may not be suitable for children under the age of two years old.
***RATES/DISCOUNTS***
Get 10% discount on stays longer than a week, or 15% on stays longer than a month.
This home does not allow stays over 30 days, however longer stays are considered on a case by case basis. For those seeking an extended stay beyond 30 days, please contact the host for further discussion prior to booking.
