Despite being in the "historical centre " situated a few steps from Via Roma and Via Cavour , with a wonderful tranquil position overlooking the garden cloister of San Domenico. Home to a designer, interiors reflect a blend of Sicilian antiques, original mosaics, 14ft ceilings & mod cons. Published in multiple international design magazines. A restoration project entirely unique to Palermo, in a 14thC Convent palazzo that has the same architectural significance grading as the Palermo Cathedral ! The space has undertaken a 2 year renovation, conserving its exposed one metre thick tufa walls with the original ground floor open living space, and the insertion of a glass and steel 'tower' that houses the 2 bedrooms, which are linked by glass and steel walkways to a pair of complimentary bathrooms (one with marble bath, the other with closed marble shower /hammam). Vintage fans and velux assist in the circulation of air. Fully air-conditioned and underfloor heating for the cooler months. The apartment is also equipped with smeg appliances including a bar quality espresso machine, (to get you started in the morning ! ) The owner always leaves provisions of water , fresh milk ,toast and jams. As with a welcome bottle of wine in both apartments Via Valverde 1 / 2 if occupied together. FOR BOTH APARTMENTS THE OWNERS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH BAGGAGE UP/ AND DOWN THE FOYER STAIRS. Via Valverde is off the main Via Roma of Palermo. The building is in front of the significant monument Santa Cita (housing important stucco work of Serpotta) and the Conservatorium of Music is at the end of the street. Many small bars and restaurants are in this area of the historical zone, and the Rinascente and Via Roma shops are within 5 minutes walk to the main street. In the other direction, again 5 minutes walk, is the 'Calla' and its waterside bars and restaurants and Piazza Marina which has a lovely sunday morning flea market. Plenty of on street parking and a parking piazza at the end of the street. Paid security parking also within 100 metres.
