Il lago di Olginate, come il lago di Garlate, rappresenta un allargamento dell’alveo del fiume Adda dalla diga omonima fino al ponte (ex-ferroviario) che permette di raggiungere Calolziocorte nella zona del Monastero del Lavello, grazie alla ciclopedonale dei laghi di Garlate e Olginate. Questo lago rappresenta un alto interesse naturalistico, perchè è meta di numerosi uccelli migratori e specialmente per la presenza di uccelli acquatici stanziali di interesse comunitario. Lo stesso lago, inserito nel Parco Adda Nord, è un sito di interesse comunitario, unitariamente alla palude di Brivio. Tanti gli animali che si possono vedere , tra cui il tuffetto, lo svasso maggiore e l’airone cinerino. Il lungolago isolato dalla strada e si presenta come un’ottima soluzione per trascorre una giornata immersi nella natura a due minuti dalla città. Tanto il verde e le zone attrezzate per i bambini. E’ possibile parcheggiare nella piazza del mercato, che si trova fronte lago, facilmente raggiungibile lungo la via Cantù, Olginate è stato riqualificato nel 2017 nella zona di Piazza Garibaldi, divenuta pedonale.
