The country house lies on a 12-hectare site with an orchard cultivated organically. The location in the Arno Valley, not far from the river banks, affords a beautiful view of the Casentini hills. Poppi and Pratovecchio are 3km away.
A country house and cottage are available for guests. Owing to the restoration of the buildings, partly from the 19th and partly from the 20th century, holiday accommodation with five bedrooms and four bathrooms can now be offered, with a total living space of 220m² (country house and cottage). The country estate is only let out to one group of people for exclusive use.The country house can accommodate up to twelve people and has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and 160m² of living space on two floors plus 60m² (cottage). The ground floor of the country house (80m²) has a large and light living room with two large arched windows affording a wonderful panorama, like paintings. It has two sofas, a fireplace, satellite TV, a dining table with chairs and a kitchen unit equipped with a gas stove with five rings, an oven, an extractor fan, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a dishwasher and other electrical appliances. The bathroom has a window, shower, WC, bidet, washbasin and washing machine. The large bedroom with a double bed and single bed (or three single beds) has a window with fly screens that can be darkened and a terrace door opening onto the external terrace. Wooden stairs lead from the living room to the hall on the first floor (80m²), which has a bedroom with a double bed, its own entrance via external stairs, windows that can be darkened, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, bidet, WC ad washbasin. There is another bedroom with a double bed, a balcony and a window that can be darkened. The third bedroom has a double bed and affords a wonderful view of the hills and the medieval castle at Romena. There is also another bathroom with a shower, bidet, WC and two washbasins. The cottage can accommodate up to three guests and has a bedroom, a bathroom and 60m2 of living space on two floors. The 30m² ground floor has a large living room with armchairs, a wood-burning stove, satellite TV, a desk, a dining table with four chairs and a kitchen unit equipped with a gas stove with four rings, a microwave, an extractor fan, a fridge with a freezer compartment and further electrical appliances. Wooden stairs lead from the living room to the hall on the first floor, which has a bathroom with a window, shower, WC, bidet and washbasin, a bedroom with a view of the pool, the hills and the medieval castle at Poppi. It has a window that can be darkened, a fireplace, a double bed and a single bed.
Guests can use the large garden with children’s play equipment, table football and a grill with a worktop. You can gather grill herbs and enjoy the shade under the high trees on hot summer days. The river Arno flows past the site and you can bathe there, also with pets. Around the pool there is a sun terrace with loungers, deckchairs, benches and parasols. The pool (6 x 12m) invites you to relax and cool off. It has steps and is illuminated internally and externally (from beginning of May to the beginning of October.) The terrace in front of the house is roofed and has benches and a large table for dining outdoors.
The owners, who live in a separate building on the country estate, welcome their guests personally and can offer homemade jam, as well as precious saffron. Bread can be delivered on request (Monday to Saturdays, local prices depending on order). The holiday home is surrounded by a two meter high fence.
The Adriatic coast is about 90 minutes away by car, the Tyrrhenian Sea about two hours. You can also swim in the lake about 1.5km from the centre of Pratovecchio, or in the River Arno. Pratovecchio and Poppi are 3km away. You can go on trips to Poppi zoo, the della Verna pilgrimage church, the Camaldoli hermitage and the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. It is an hour’s drive to Florence, 40 minutes to Arezzo and 90 minutes to Siena. It is only an hour and five minutes by train from Arezzo to Rome, so day trips are possible.
